SHELBY, August 20, 2012 – The first-ever American Legion World Series commemorative painting was unveiled at this year’s 2012 Banquet of Champions held at LeGrand Center, 1800 East Marion Street. This extraordinary work of art was painted by well-known portrait artist Mary Sparrow. Entitled “Honor Amidst Young Dreams,” the painting, an oil on canvas measuring 48 inches by 60 inches, will hang in LeGrand Center. Signed lithograph prints of the painting will be available for purchase at Keeter Stadium as well as online at www.hangingthemoon.com.
About the painting, Mary commented, “It truly is an honor to paint on behalf of the American Legion World Series and to have my work on display at the LeGrand Center.” Emily Sisk of the local World Series Executive Committee commented the work will showcase this great community and the privilege we have of being the proud, permanent home of The American Legion World Series.
